Artis the Spoonman is a living myth. From the bars
and streets of Seattle, San Francisco, Manhattan,
Sydney, London, Dublin, Munich and Singapore, to the theatres of Broadway,
the stages of international and national television and the recording
studios of
Frank Zappa and Soundgarden - his spell bounding, faster than the eye
can track spoon playing will change your life or at least your ideas
on cutlery. Referring to Artis the Spoonman Frank Zappa said, "You
haven't got a
commercial bone in your body."
Jim Page is one of the most talented, and respected
songwriters to ever come from the Pacific Northwest. Jim has been on
the scene for more than twenty years and his reputation continues to
grow. He has shared the stage with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou
Harris, Michelle Shocked, Leftover Salmon, and Mickey Hart.

An exotic documentary about Long Gone John, a first rate oddball Southern
Californian – a denizen of Long Beach who collects pop ephemera,
especially toys, books and works of "lowbrow art." He also
has run a low budget indie record company for the past 17 years, turning
out over 750 albums by over 550 groups, mainly punk and retro-rock,
and helping to launch the careers of White Stripes, Hole, The Dwarfs,
and Rocket from the Crypt, among many others.

Narrated by
John Waters
This documentary follows the tragic yet beautiful life and death of
the once populated Salton Sea told primarily through the people who
know it best, its current residents. Interviewing the strange cast of
eccentrics and exploring their lifestyles gives us a rich depiction
of what life is like for the people who call this area home. Also explored
is the state of the sea, its chances for repair and consequences if
left neglected. This fascinating story combined with humorous, yet sad
descriptions and nostalgic recollections paints a vivid picture of a
community that constantly faces great transformation. With creative
storytelling and lively interviews this documentary illustrates a genuinely
strange and beautiful land that may fade away within the next decade.
Co-directors Metzler and Spring will host a Q&A following
the screenings.
