Artis the Spoonman is a living myth. From the bars
and streets of Seattle, San Francisco, Manhattan,
Sydney, London, Dublin, Munich and Singapore, to the theatres of Broadway,
the stages of international and national television and the recording
studios of
Frank Zappa and Soundgarden - his spell bounding, faster than the eye
can track spoon playing will change your life or at least your ideas
on cutlery. Referring to Artis the Spoonman Frank Zappa said, "You
haven't got a
commercial bone in your body."
Jim Page is one of the most talented, and respected
songwriters to ever come from the Pacific Northwest. Jim has been on
the scene for more than twenty years and his reputation continues to
grow. He has shared the stage with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou
Harris, Michelle Shocked, Leftover Salmon, and Mickey Hart.

Narrated by
John Waters
This documentary follows the tragic yet beautiful life and death of
the once populated Salton Sea told primarily through the people who
know it best, its current residents. Interviewing the strange cast of
eccentrics and exploring their lifestyles gives us a rich depiction
of what life is like for the people who call this area home. Also explored
is the state of the sea, its chances for repair and consequences if
left neglected. This fascinating story combined with humorous, yet sad
descriptions and nostalgic recollections paints a vivid picture of a
community that constantly faces great transformation. With creative
storytelling and lively interviews this documentary illustrates a genuinely
strange and beautiful land that may fade away within the next decade.
The documentary short LSD A GO GO will also be screened.
Co-directors Metzler and Spring will host a Q&A following
the screenings.

FILMMAKER IN ATTENDANCE!
Filmmaker Kevin Pina challenges the contemporary view
of Haiti, revealing the hidden role of the
'international community' in Haitian politics. This
provocative and lively film takes the viewer into
parts of Haiti where few Western journalists dare to
tread, and includes shocking footage of unreported human rights abuses,
some which have been astonishingly conducted by UN forces. Pina's film
stands out because it connects the tragic events in Haiti with what
he assesses as foreign intervention
designed to deter democracy. Learn the side of the Haiti coverage not
seen in the corporate news media.

afraid her 14 year old son, Ned, will grow up to be
like his father, Henry, who has been missing for seven years. Fay's
brother Simon is serving ten years in prison for aiding in Henry's escape

about the tumultuous years of Henry's presence among them--chronicled
in Hartley's earlier film HENRY FOOL(1998). He has come to suspect that
Henry was not the man he appeared to be. His suspicions are validated
when the CIA asks Fay to travel to Paris to retrieve Henry's property.

nature, self-awareness, human rights and civic pride through the passion
and endurance of one unique woman.
